I have been waiting to post this video. I know it has been all over the internet and news (well not the attention it should, but you get my drift). This video is so disturbing, to watch this young man die in this manner was cruel and inhuman. Now for my thoughts of how this could possibly play out: You have a black teen who did not pay his bus fare, and I have to assume that the police were called, and a chase ensued…now why was he running? It was a misdemeanor at best? Well there was talk that he had a gun, now we all can see while he was laying there from this angle that no gun was visible. Although from a different look, it is ALLEGED that someone from the crowd picked up a “silver colored hand gun”…I looked at the video but did not see it. Maybe I was looking too hard, but nonetheless, this scene took me back to the Rodney King situation, even further like looking at a scene from 1960’s. The people voices (the anger, hurt, disappointment) spoke volumes. Now let me say this, I’m all for what’s right, and with this video, we only seeing the end result, so whether the guy was running and shooting, or whatever story the police are saying…I HAVE NO IDEA, but what I can speak on, is watching a 19 year old man, flat on his stomach gasping for life, while trained professional stood and watched, not one attempted to go over to the suspect (who was clearly under control) to help him. That’s what so hurtful about watching this.
A friend of mine was telling me about a recent story where a guy shot and killed a police officer and while trying to capture him, he was shot in the leg then apprehended and taken to jail, but this guy got 5 shots to the BACK. What’s wrong with this picture? We as African-Americans beat EACH OTHER UP DAILY, it should not take this type of incident to get everyone on one accord. But you can always tear a house down if it’s divided. Wake up people!
HERE IS WHAT THE NEWS WAS REPORTING ON THE INCIDENT
