“And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified and said, It is a ghost! And they screamed out with fright. But instantly He spoke to them, saying, Take courage! I AM! Stop being afraid! And Peter answered Him, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water. He said, Come! So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water, and he came toward Jesus. But when he perceived and felt the strong wind, he was frightned, and as he began to sink, he cried out, Lord, save me [from death]! Instantly Jesus reached out His hand and caught and held him, saying to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” (Matthew 14: 26-31, Amplified)

Good morning everyone. I just wanted to take a moment and speak concerning this scripture reading today. As I was listening to the word as I drove this morning…when this particular passage came up, I could just hear the Holy Spirit begin to speak. If you will read this passage again, I want you to see how FEAR, (or becoming frightened) can hinder you from getting to where God has planned for you to go. Yes, I’m speaking about your God ordained destiny. The disciples were in route to the OTHER SIDE as they were directed by Jesus to go before Him (as He went up into the hills to pray alone). Now understand, Christ gave them a distinct command…”get into the boat and go before Him to the other side…Matthew 14: 22). First off, we all should know and understand that when Christ gives us an instruction..He has already prepared the way and He has taken care of everything that would come against you on the way. The disciples ran into some “troubled winds” along the way..and it caused FEAR to begin to “control” their soul (mind, will, & emotions). How many of us, have gotten a command from God to go down a certain path, but just when the “smooth sailing” stops and the water get’s rough, we forget all about the command and begin to focus on the obstacle before us?

Then there is Peter! I can only imagine what he was thinking when He looked and seen Jesus: WALKING ON THE WATER! Well he had enough faith to at least start the “journey” or “get out of the boat”..which was more than the others, but what happened…HE PERCEIVED (became aware of, identify by means of the senses) and FELT “trouble or fear” and he lost FAITH. See when the Holy Spirit gives us a word from heaven…we receive that word, and we are on fire to get it done, yet at the first (flesh moment..meaning we step out of faith in God, and begin to look at the limits of man) we quickly begin to sink (to death)…because to me…to live this life (according to your own intelligence & abilities) is ignorance..and is the equivalent of SETTLING. When we all know that the plan that God has for our lives is the most satisfying that we could ever enjoy! Jesus wanted them to understand that there is nothing greater than I AM! The fact that He was there…meant FEAR was not…so He told them DON’T DOUBT (FEAR)! CAUSE YES YOU TOO CAN WALK ON WATER IF CHRIST BID YOU TO COME, IF YOU FEAR NOT!

Lady Vols Freshman

Tennessee moved a step closer to the official start of women’s basketball practice next month by convening their first full-team workout on Thursday.
Since fall semester began, the Lady Vols had been conducting individual workouts that involved no more than four players at a time.
“We worked on all these things in individuals,” freshman Taber Spani said, “but now it’s understanding it in a team setting.”
Actually the Lady Vols spent most of the individual sessions introducing and drilling on defensive concepts. They will use the team workouts to start playing catch-up on offense.
Team workouts also introduce the use of male practice players.
“The size of the guys down low defensively surprised me,” freshman Faith Dupree said. “I’ve played some big people, but those are the biggest I’ve played.”
UT coach Pat Summitt likely will be more vocal as well. During individuals, she spent more time observing while her assistant coaches directed the drills.
Dupree was happy to report that she survived a Summitt scolding on Thursday.
“You know what? Bring it,” Dupree said. “I’m going to mess up, and she is going to tell me what I did wrong.”

LadyVolNation Introducing UT LadyVol: Faith Dupree

LadyVolNation stand up. Introducing #34 6’4 Post Faith Dupree. What is it about the Webb School? It just keep on producing ballers. We were able to get Glory Johnson last year, and this year we get Faith. What I like about this addition, no matter who comes off the bench this season for the post, they are all 6’0 and up. Faith has a nice jumper from 12-15 ft in, and that alone makes her valuable in Pat’s offense.
I was able to see a couple of homemade videos of Faith that she has on facebook, and she appears to have “funny bone”, and her smile is infectious. Now because I don’t have a lot of information about Faith, let me just say that any person that “may” have not been on the radar before, took the time to hone her skills and make an impression on the #1 institution of basketball learning in the country.
Faith has “soft” hands, so Stricklen, and Bass will have a field day finding her down low. With that 6’4 frame she will be able to carve out a lot of space under the basket-imagine when she is on the court with Kelly Cain at the same time…ooooh weeee! I love it! Now because this team is SOOOO deep, Faith will have to work hard to crack playing time, but I believe a bench mob of her, Brewer, Williams, Spani and Bass would just run circles around any of our opponents. Faith Dupree is just another reason I am so ready for the season to start.
Faith don’t be afraid, have “faith” that you belong here, and play the game. You have officially been painted ORANGE, cause your dream has come true.

Update: Here is what Pat Summit had to say about Faith and Glory Johnson teaming back up together…and guess what Faith shoots the “deep” 3 ball…oh I love this team.

“I think certainly there’s going to be times when they’re going to be on the floor together, and they’ve got awareness when they’re playing together. I’ve watched them play a lot. To have them both now, and Glory be able to play in the high-low game and Faith, she shoots the 3-ball deep. I could see those two playing together and being a good combo.” (via
