[SPORTS] LAKERS DEFEAT THE ROCKETS 108-99

Kobe Bryant had something to prove last night as he stepped on the floor at Staples Center, after his poor shooting performance in Denver that resulted in him going 6-28, that he knows how to play this game: His Way! After all the criticism he took for not getting the ball inside more when his shot was obviously off, Bryant responding by taking the first shot of the game, and making it. Kobe would actually finish the game shooting 50% on 14-29 with 37pts/8rbs/6asst. The pain in that right wrist is still evident though on a lot of trips down the floor, where you can see Bryant wincing from the pain or simply rotating it continually. As a Laker fan we get so spoiled, because Kobe never complains about his injury, he just shows up for work day in and day out. I asked myself why his legacy on the court is marred with success that’s usually played through injury? But I guess everyone has their legacy that they will live. How much greater when people realize that he not only played when sick (flu) but with torn ligaments, bad knees, & ankles on his way to his 6th championship. Read the rest of this entry »

[SPORTS] LAKERS DEFEAT NUGGETS 92-89 (THE RETURN OF BYNUM)

The Lakers took to the court Saturday afternoon to take on the high powered offense of the Denver Nuggets, and unlike the previous 4 games, this time they had their anchor in the middle: ANDREW BYNUM. And oh what an impact the InCredible Bynum made scoring 29pts/13rbs/2blks. It’s funny because the first question that came from analysts after seeing Bynum’s season debut was, “do Laker fans still want to trade Bynum?” Read the rest of this entry »

[SPORTS] LAKERS LOSE TO KINGS, START 0-2

The Lakers lost to the Sacramento Kings last night, 91-100. Here is my perspective.

The game vs the Bulls, was simply turnovers and free throws. This game vs the Kings showed more than ever that Mike Brown better start trusting Darius Morris/Andrew Goudelock soon, or else what Tyreke Evans did will be happening all season. I watched Derek Fisher and Steve Blake get scored on more than 10 times vs Evans, and it wasn’t pretty. Now I’m not here to take away from what Marcus Thorton did, but for everyone who thought Kobe guarded him the whole game, you need a replay..but the way “baby buckets” was shooting it really didn’t matter who was on him. [SPORTS] LAKERS LOSE SEASON OPENER TO BULLS

Ah the NBA is back, and it did not fail to deliver in it’s excitement on Christmas day. After watching the Celtics lose by one, on a KG missed attempt at the end, followed by a subsequent choke out of Bill Walker by KG. Then an absolute embarrassing banner raising day for the defending champions, Dallas Mavericks at the hands of the Miami Heat. I really didn’t know what to expect from my new look Lakers. I was nervous and excited all at the same time. Read the rest of this entry »

JIM BUSS IS FINALLY “OPEN” TO TRADING ANDREW BYNUM

I guess Jim Buss finally woke up, and understood the dynamics of the words: BYNUM IS UNTOUCHABLE. What made that happen? Orlando’s Otis Smith stated that he is open to hearing all offers for it’s all-star center…and now Mitch Kupchack has the right piece to throw there way. Honestly I believe that Bynum has had all the major surgery he will require for the rest of his career, and you cannot deny his talent, or work ethic..except for waiting to get surgery too late last season, but hey I chalk that up to immaturity, versus work ethic.

But seriously what does this mean for the Lakers? It’s the possibility of bringing Kobe Bryant together with another version of “Superman”..but this one actually respects him and wants to play with him. Like Kobe who has modeled so much of his game after his idol, Michael Jordan, with the rings to match…Dwight Howard (even if he never says it) is ready to do the same thing…and acquire the bling to match. I believe he wants to do it while he knows Kobe still has that fire in his belly to get it done. Read the rest of this entry »

LAKERS HOLD A MINI CAMP FOR FREE AGENTS

The Los Angeles Lakers are holding a two-day mini-camp in hopes of filling the final two spots left on it’s roster. Although a team can hold up to 15 players, the mandatory amount is 13. So with the impending free agency of Shannon Brown (who the Lakers believe will opt out of his contract), along with the fact that Mitch emphatically denies “shopping” any of the current players on the roster, and the pending lock out that seems inevitable…who will fill the remaining spots? NBA DRAFT 2011-LAKERS SELECTIONS

The Los Angeles Lakers had 4 picks in the second round at last night’s draft. Two point guards, in Darrius Morris at #41 and Andrew Goudelock at #46…where the first is a true point guard in every sense of the word, and the latter is an absolute scorer. With the #56 pick the Lakers chose Chukwudiebere Maduabum, who was latter traded to Denver for a future 2nd round pick. And with the #58 pick they chose Ater Mojok from the Sudan. Now because the Lakers were desperately in need of guard help, let’s go back to them. Read the rest of this entry »
