I can’t wait to got see this movie on 1/20. RedTails stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrance Howard, Ne-Yo, Nate Parker, Tristan Wilds and is directed by Anthony Hemingway, produced by George Lucas. Check out the trailer & please support the film.

1944. World War II rages and the fate of the free world hangs in the balance. Meanwhile the black pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program are courageously waging two wars at once — one against enemies overseas, and the other against discrimination within the military and back home. Racial prejudices have long held ace airman Martin “Easy” Julian (Nate Parker) and his black pilots back at base — leaving them with little to do but further hone their flying skills — while their white counterparts are shipped out to combat after a mere three months of training. Mistakenly deemed inferior and assigned only second-rate planes and missions, the pilots of Tuskegee have mastered the skies with ease but have not been granted the opportunity to truly spread their wings. Until now.
As the war in Europe continues to take its dire toll on Allied forces, Pentagon brass has no recourse but to reconsider these under-utilized pilots for combat duty. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, Col. A.J. Bullard (Terrence Howard) awards them the ultimate chance to prove their mettle high above. Undaunted by the prospect of providing safe escort to bombers in broad daylight — a mission so dangerous that the RAF has refused it and the white fighter groups have sustained substantial losses — Easy’s pilots at last join the fiery aerial fray. Against all the odds, with something to prove and everything to lose, these intrepid young airmen take to the skies in a heroic endeavor to combat the enemy — and the discrimination that has kept them down for so long.

Cool, calm, collected, and most importantly…FOCUSED. Those were the words I would have used to describe Candace Parker as she returned after sitting out 7 games due to a tear in to her meniscus. Candace, who did not start, ended the game with a double double (15pts/10rbs), and an EJECTION. Why does this matter, being that the Sparks ended up losing the game? Because it’s time for someone on this team to act like it’s affecting them that they are sitting 5th in the Western Conference, with the possibility of not making the playoffs. As a fan I have called for the head of Jennifer Gillom, and Penny Toler…with Jen out, and now the team being coached by Joe Bryant, the chemistry still was not there. Honestly I believe that if this team could have one injury free season from a major player, winning the championship would not be in question or doubt. I just don’t want to see Candace Parker not become the player I know she destined to be. One on One, no one in this league can match up with her, and yes that includes Maya Moore. It’s like Kobe & Lebron…with Parker being the black mamba. Her mentality, and determination to get back on the court was captured in a video. If Parker is not in a championship game for the Sparks soon, and her husband playing in New York…we could possibly have another blockbuster trade (reminiscent of Cappie Poindexter leaving Phoenix)…and I know Sparks fans don’t want that. The time is now!

Tonight is opening night for the WNBA. The spotlight will be on one game in particular…uh no it’s not the defending champs…Seattle Storm along with the MVP of the league Lauren Jackson…it’s the Los Angeles Sparks vs the Minnesota Lynx. Both teams have underachieved in recent years, with Minny having some of the most talented players collectively, and LA boasting the leagues most prominent names in the 3 olympians (Parker,Thompson,Milton-Jones). Neither of the teams have been close to championship form, since ’08, which was Parker’s rookie season. In 2008, with a shoulder that attempted to fail her twice in her NCAA run for her 2nd title, she Rookie of the Year, and MVP of the league(1st time anyone ever did it in the same year). Now after two disappointing seasons, Candace is back!!! Yes she is back physically, and most importantly with that WIN MENTALITY. And boy does she need it this season now more than ever. Because the swagger level just went up 5 notches. In walks one of the most heralded women players since..uh Parker herself (if we talking recent), and her name is MAYA MOORE.
