Last night TNT had 2 great games on. With the defending champs, Dallas Mavericks, being defeated by the Oklahoma City Thunder with a buzzer beater by Kevin Durant. Because this is a post about the Laker game, I’ll just let you take a look for yourself at how KD made sure Vince Carter understood that although he idolized him growing up, this was his house. The game vs the Bulls, was simply turnovers and free throws. This game vs the Kings showed more than ever that Mike Brown better start trusting Darius Morris/Andrew Goudelock soon, or else what Tyreke Evans did will be happening all season. I watched Derek Fisher and Steve Blake get scored on more than 10 times vs Evans, and it wasn’t pretty. Now I’m not here to take away from what Marcus Thorton did, but for everyone who thought Kobe guarded him the whole game, you need a replay..but the way “baby buckets” was shooting it really didn’t matter who was on him. Ah the NBA is back, and it did not fail to deliver in it’s excitement on Christmas day. After watching the Celtics lose by one, on a KG missed attempt at the end, followed by a subsequent choke out of Bill Walker by KG. Then an absolute embarrassing banner raising day for the defending champions, Dallas Mavericks at the hands of the Miami Heat. I really didn’t know what to expect from my new look Lakers. I was nervous and excited all at the same time. Read the rest of this entry »
This is getting more and more confusing by the minute. It’s like just when I get use to one thing, something new comes along. Ah I know what Lamar Odom was feeling. But unlike Lamar, I understand this is the nature of the business, and I must know and always understand, that as a fan of the NBA, more specifically the Los Angeles Lakers, that things change. So my motto is (at least until Jerry Buss is no longer breathing) that I will #TrustInBuss. Well as far as basketball is concerned. Over the last 30 years I have seen the Lakers win 10 championships, and accomplish countless other feats, all in the midst of controversy and sometimes turmoil. They are known as winners. Anyone who say they are a Lakers fan, would never question that aspect of the organization. Read the rest of this entry »
After David Stern single handedly brought a dark cloud back over the NBA when he vetoed a trade that would have sent Chris Paul to the Lakers, the teams (Laker/Rockets/Hornets) have been working frantically to put a deal together that they hoped would NOT be vetoed by the commissioner. But after hours of revising the deal, and supposedly resubmitting an offer to the League, the Lakers have had enough. It is being reported by ESPN’s Mark Stein that the Lakers have pulled out of the deal completely, instead, trading Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks, and receiving an 8.9mil dollar trade exception in return. Now the question becomes why would the Lakers trade their 6th man of the year to the team that swept them last year? One is the way Lamar Odom reacted to the trade, his literal crying and saying things like: “I don’t know what I’m suppose to do for the Lakers now”…not the right move. The other, its all out pursuit of Dwight Howard. Read the rest of this entry »
So I woke up, getting ready for work, check my messages and see that a deal has been made between the Laker/Rockets/Hornets where the Lakers would receive Chris Paul, Pau Gasol to the Rockets, and the Hornets would get Luis Scola, Lamar Odom, Kevin Martin & Goran Dragic. Honestly as a Laker fan, I didn’t know how to feel at first. When I seen Lamar’s name included in the trade, my heart sunk a bit. I know it’s a business, and getting Chris Paul, I knew we would have to give up 2 guys, but I just didn’t want it to be L.O. But as I got to work, and begin reading the tweets, and reports of the deal, I began to get excited. Just the thought of Chris and Kobe in that back-court and imagine the possibility. I’m telling all of my co-workers, the Lakers got Chris Paul. Then BOOM!!! Someone comes up to me and says: David stern vetoed the deal! Okay…Now what? Read the rest of this entry »
With all of the trade speculation concerning the Lakers being centered around Pau Gasol, he made a statement concerning what he desires.
“My desire is to stay with the Lakers. I don’t have control over it but I want to stay with the Lakers for as many years as I can to be able to remain eligible for the maximum possible championships,” Gasol told reporters in the northeastern city of Alicante.”
The more I hear the rumors concerning Pau, I’m not completely sold on trading him. Lamar Odom could bring us a very good point guard, or power forward in return. But to give up Pau after his 3rd straight title run..um not sure about that. Now if you are giving us Chris Paul, I say pull the trigger…lol. Trading Pau for Kevin Love and the #2 pick sounds great, but when we talking about championship runs, Laker fans must remember that experience is what win game 7’s…not athleticism. Think on that! Kobe doesn’t have forever…his window is closing fast, so there will not be a lot of room for error. A rookie point guard (who you pray is like Chris Paul), I’m not so sure about.
