@CHRISBROWN @RIHANNA THE ONLY ONES THAT CAN UPSTAGE THE LAKERS

Merry Christmas! The Los Angeles Lakers were center stage today, as they generally are on Christmas, this time battling the #1 team in the east, New York Knicks. After a dismal start to the season, the Lakers defeated the Knicks today, 100-94, yet as good as the game was..it was what happened half way through the 1st QTR that dominated twitter! Chris Brown entered the Staples Center with Rihanna!

Yes! While the Lakers are the main attraction, Chrihanna (what there fans call the couple) took the spotlight! Now I know we can read so much into this, but for there first public appearance together, what better place than a Lakers game on Christmas Day, court side at the end of the Lakers bench!

They seem to actually be enjoying the game, and not phased by the attention at all! Rihanna was sporting the necklace Chris gave her over a month ago that she wore to her launch of her new fragrance Nude.

Why is this even news at this point? Well earlier this Christmas morning, Chris ex Kaerucche, decided to put a picture up on Instagram wearing nothing but a “Chris Brown Bathing Ape” T-shirt while sitting on the side of the bed. But as soon as the news hit that Rihanna & Chris were entering Staples Center, the picture was gone!

So as we all was waiting on Rihanna’s response to the pic via her own Instagram, she decided to allow the media to do it for her by entering the most watched game on Christmas Day! Boom!

Now does this mean they are an official couple? Who knows with these two! But I see Chris face is no longer hidden when he is with Rihanna. And the PDA was on full display. Is it for publicity? Honestly I say yes & no! Yes because they want to control what the public get to see vs the widespread stories of the media! And no because I believe they just want to be together and it be Nobody’s Business! I mean that can’t have beef when they know that video will be the most watched on YouTube for years lol. Can you imagine if they had put those 2 on kiss cam? SMH..pandemonium!

In other news doesn’t this kid look like he can belong to rapper The Game? Lol! Glad to see them take the time to take the pic with the kid either way.

Now watch as they leave 3 minutes before the end of the game, that was far from decided! So yep…they came, they conquered, & they upstaged the Lakers! Well except for the real fans like me! I was focused on the Lakers keeping the win streak alive.

She bad!!! The Laker sideline reporters kept speaking about how Ri had little boys going into puberty just looking at her..lol! She bad!! Man just let them live! They know the consequences of there actions, and if they willing to endure them, so be it!

LAKERS TRADE RUMOR: LAKERS WON’T TRADE GASOL FOR RONDO?

Oh my goodness. Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times is reporting that the Lakers are unwilling to give up Pau Gasol for Boston’s 25yr. old walking triple double, Rajon Rondo? I really hope that this is not true. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m one of the biggest Laker fans in the world and I love what Pau Gasol brings to our team, but we are talking about a guy in Rajon Rondo who has a Chris Paul type mindset on the court, and his hunger to win is always on 10. I’m not sure if that’s a good move for the Lakers not to explore this situation deeper. You have to give up something to get something, and unfortunately, Pau is the only “movable” piece we have.

The Lakers are unwilling to trade Pau Gasol for Rondo, making a deal with Boston unlikely before the trade deadline Thursday.

The only reason I’m okay with the trade of Pau Gasol for Rajon Rondo is simply because the offensive style the Lakers are now running calls for a point guard that’s on the highest level. Lebron James in this same offense was able to get to the finals with a pg named Mo Williams, so imagine Kobe, Andrew, and Rajon on the same team. That would definitely be an upgrade for Mike Brown’s chances to get back to the finals again.

It’s always tough to trade a player of Pau’s caliber, simply because of his dedication to the organization and the team. Also you know the Lakers don’t want to have another big “falling out” with a player, like with what happened with the Lamar Odom trade. I would not want to be Mitch Kupchak. What do you think LakerNation, is this a good decision by the Lakers to not trade Pau for Rondo? Will a lower level pg do this roster any justice, or should you go for the right now/future all in one trade?

[SPORTS] LAKERS TRADE RUMOR: GASOL/BYNUM FOR HOWARD?

In the midst of this NBA All-Star weekend, a trade rumor broke out (Peter Vecey) stating that the Orlando Magic turned down the Lakers offer of Bynum for Howard straight up, but are willing to restructure the deal in order to trade their superstar center. What type of restructuring you are asking? Well, the Magic has made it no secret that the only way they would trade D12 to the Lakers is if they (Lakers) would be willing to part with both of their All-Star big men, so that includes Pau Gasol, according to John Cherwa (LA Times).

Let me just say this, NOOOOO. I really hope the Lakers will not do this deal. Right now they have all the leverage. The Magic will not find another team that can even come close to value as for as players go, if they trade him elsewhere. The New Jersey Nets only big man, Brooke Lopez, even with an injured Bynum is nowhere near his talent level. Honestly Bynum and Howard balance out for me simply because Bynum is better offensively, and Howard is better defensively.

People continue to talk about an injury prone Bynum, yet he does not describe what the true meaning of injury prone is to me, that title goes to a player such as Greg Oden. Not to disrespect Oden, but the injuries that Drew has obtained throughout his career were legit, like coming down on a players foot, or Kobe literally running into his knee head first. And at 7’1, 280, yeah that’s a recipe for disaster. Drew is playing his first injury free season, and his production is way up. People also forget he is averaging 16pts/13rbs with a superstar on his team. Meaning he doesn’t get the ball that often. So, I just hope the Lakers are not desperate and really look at the big picture.

UPDATE: The Magic will throw in Jameer Nelson and Hedo Turkaglou as well. So the Magic would get Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, and the Lakers would receive, Dwight Howard, Hedo, and Jameer. Heck it looks like they should have just traded Kobe to Orlando…smh. Didn’t our team defeat that team in the championship..oh but our bench was much stronger then..lol.

Ah I’m up in the air on this one. I know the Lakers have to look to the post Kobe era, just not sure this will elevate us to the top? What you guys think?

[SPORTS] RAJON RONDO TO LAKERS?

Okay I don’t know how much I would allow this to be mulled over, but Eric Pincus of HOOPSWORLD has a “theory” that leads him to possibly believe that the Celtics & Lakers are talking about a possible trade that would land Rajon Rondo in LA, and Pau Gasol in Boston.

Now although I really won’t hold my breath to see this happen, BUT let’s explore it anyway. With David Stern flexing his muscle against the Lakers and nixing the possible trade for all-star guard Chris Paul, and watching the Celtics struggle early in the season (although they are doing better now), it begin to way in my mind that the league seemed to be putting a nail in the coffin for 2 of the greatest franchises in NBA history. Cause remember, the Celtics also offered Rondo to New Orleans (the league owned team) for Chris Paul and were turned away. Now as we sit 35 games into the 66 game season, the 2 most historic franchises are looking to add pieces to stay in the hunt. No other teams in the league will seemingly help them, so why not help each other. Contrary to popular belief, the only thing bigger than the Celtic/Laker rivalry is the fact that they both know that they are the top dogs in this league, and are not ready to leave their championship ways standing at 17/16.

Lakers vs Suns-The Lakers Get Tough..

Pau Gasol "tweaks" Hamstring versus Dallas Mavericks

Pau Gasol injured his left hamstring (a strained left hamstring to be exact) in the first quarter against the Mavs Sunday evening. He will be re-evaluated at halftime and we will update you with more information as we get it in.
Note, this is NOT the same hamstring which kept him out at the beginning of the year. Suffice to say, let’s hope it’s not too serious.

LakerNation-It’s That Time Again Media Day

Today is media day in El Segundo, and for the first time since Shaquille O’neal left, their were more cameras around a player that was not named Kobe Bryant. Lamar Odom, due to his recent nuptials to Khloe Kardashian, had what looked like a “circus” of reporters surrounding him, as the Lakers gathered together for their first step toward defending their NBA title. It’s 50 years in LA, let’s celebrate with another one. The road to 5 starts here.

While addressing a thirsty group of reporters, Kobe Bryant alluded to his calm, physically restful offseason, said that the Lakers are 100 percent focused on repeating and continuing to improve, and declined to acknowledge any off court distractions. Lakers center Andrew Bynum spent most of his offseason training in Atlanta, where he told us his primary focus was “getting my base back.” Bynum said that his workouts included a lot of work strengthening the muscles around his knees, and declared himself 100 percent healthy. He also talked about his personal goal for the 2009-10 season and what is was like scrimmaging against Ron Artest.

Shannon Brown came to the Lakers in a February 2009 trade from the Charlotte Bobcats, then promptly showed L.A.’s operations office exactly why they’d coveted his combination of athleticism and skill, particularly in the playoffs.

As such, Mitch Kupchak and Co. re-signed Brown subsequent to the season, and are looking forward to seeing him grow even further after a full summer of digesting Phil Jackson’s offense.

Brown mentioned the benefits of coming into training camp with the team when we spoke to him at media day, talked about what he added to his game and gave a quick review of Jay-Z’s new album.

  • ESPN: Pau Gasol had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead world champion Spain to a 85-63 win over Serbia in the final of the European basketball championship Sunday.
The victory gave Spain its first European title after six runner-up finishes, including a one-point loss two years ago to Russia in front of its home crowd.
The Spaniards dominated from the start at both ends of the court, playing pressure man-to-man defense and getting out on the break for easy baskets to take a 15-point first quarter lead. Serbia never recovered.
Gasol, a star with the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers, scored down low and blocked three shots on his way to winning the tournament MVP honors.
“It was a great game, and obviously we won the final that we lost twice before this year, so I’m extremely happy and it’s an unforgettable day for us,” Gasol said. “We just worked so hard to win this championship and I’m just super proud of my teammates.”
Guard Rudy Fernandez chipped in with 13 points for Spain, while Uros Tripkovic led Serbia with 15 points.
“We lost the first half, and probably the game was finished,” Serbia coach Dusan Ivkovic said. “The Spanish team was better and they deserved absolutely this title.”

Nash still Salty about Gasol Trade?

I remember a while back Nash spoke out on the “unfair” Pau Gasol trade. He still seems to think the Suns won’t be able to compete with the Lakers since they got Pau.

Yahoo: “It’s tough to say you’re a contender when you look at the Lakers,” Nash said. “The Gasol thing changed everything. Any team in the playoffs that was given Pau Gasol and didn’t really have to give up anything, that would have a big impact on your team. I think anyone else [with Gasol] would be sitting in the position the Lakers are in now, too.
