This moment has been a long time coming for Dawn Richard. Singer/songwriter, former member of Danity Kane (heck I say once DK always DK..lol), former member of Diddy Dirty Money, etc..etc…I say that because this woman has not stopped since the day we were first introduced to her for MTV’s Making the Band. Her grind has been relentless, and not without struggle, yet by faith she has stood her ground, trusted God to do what He said He would concerning her…and now he she is, on the cusp of her first full length debut album: GoldenHeart. I have been pulling for Dawn since day one..so I’m very excited for this album to drop. I’m not sure there is even a category for this music…that’s what makes it dope to me. IT’S OFFICIAL @DAY26 CALLS IT QUITS
MTV’s Making the band, male platinum group, Day26, have officially called it quits. This comes as no suprise to me. Every since the releasal of the youngest member Anthony Que Mosley, I for one was no longer a fan of them as a group. They released an official statement. Check it out.
“It is with great sadness and deep pain that we regret to inform you that effective immediately, Atlantic Records Platinum recording group, DAY26 have decided to take a break from the group and focus on their own individual projects. On behalf of all the members; Willie, Mike, Rob, Brian and even Que, we would like to thank all of the “fams” aka fans, dj’s across the world, promoters, radio programmers, Bad Boy Entertainment, Starstruck Management, BET, VH1 and FUSE and all DAY26 supporters in general, for your unending support throughout these years.”“We would also like to acknowledge that this journey would have not been made possible without the vision and mastermind of Sean “Diddy” Combs and of course MTV Networks for making a group of unknown men, the stars that they are today.”
“We simply thank you from the bottom of our hearts and really want you to know that the journey does not end here. We continue to wish each other the very best and continued success in all of our individual endeavors, and all we ask of you is to please give each member a chance and the opportunity to shine in whatever they do.”

Even though I can’t understand why groups can’t learn how to work with one another in order to make great music is beyond me. With 2 platinum albums under their belt, I guess success was too much for them..smh. Now we will need to see what they will offer the music industry individually.
My favorite joint from Day26 is a joint written by none other than former couple, Dawn Richard (formely of Danity Kane) & Anthony Que Mosely-Perfectly Blind.

In the past year, Dawn Richard, has brought her full arsenal to the forefront of music. With her hot new EP, Armor On, the burgeoning superstar just continues to make her impact felt in todays music. After freeing herself of the continual questions of whether her and Qwanell (formely Que of Day 26) were still together or not, she took to power 1051 and set the record straight, that ship has sailed. Ah man, I must say that to hear that was painful as a fan of them both, but beautiful at the same time simply because I get to hear what her heart is saying in each and every song she puts out.
Well now, that the heartbreak is over, Dawn has surely moved on with a new love, and timeless music. She gave her fans a treat for reaching over 300K views on her latest video, Bombs, off of Armor On. Seriously there are only a few artists that I love supporting no matter what. Dawn Richard is one of those artists. Since the first day I saw her on MTV’s Making The Band, I knew there was something “different” about her. No not how she looked, her shyness, or even her sound, to me it was her spirit. One that was guarded, yet desired honesty and truth. One that one to have an opportunity to express her gift in a way that can touch lives on another level. Well we got to witness a small inkling of that while she was with Danity Kane (sucka for love, ride 4 u, etc) but now she’s about to bring us the complete package that is Dawn Richard, in her upcoming album: GoldenHearts. The first single, SMFU (Saving Myself From U), is now available on Itunes, and she recently released the video for the song. One word to describe the visual to the words written: POWERFUL. Hearts (what she calls her fans) enjoy this stage of Dawn as she shares a part of herself with you. It’s something to be said about a woman who understands who God is, what Faith means, and how to incorporate them both into her life knowing that without either she would have given up a long time ago.
